Hi there!! This is my first ever blog, how fun hehe. You're probably here because you're scared or nervous or just really really want to know how my interview for DEC went down, so let's start storytelling.
After I received my results for SPM in March, my mom told me to apply at KPM for DEC (Dip. Eng Communication) even though I was also applying for UPU. You see, you have to apply for KPM on their website so don't go looking for it on UPU lol. So that's what I did and then in early April I was accepted for the interview! Whether you like it or not, most english based courses have interviews so you'll have to face it one way or another.

My interview was said to start at 8.00 a.m. at KPM Bandar Melaka, but I got there at about 7.40 a.m. and so many people were already waiting. They called us at around 8.15 a.m. so I didn't have to wait too long. They then told us to go to the library while the parents were allowed to wait at the cafeteria only, so I went alone (sad).
At the library, everyone was parted into 2 groups ; one group had to go for the writing test first and the other had to go for the interview. Lucky for me I got to do the writing test first with a few others in a different room.

For the writing test, we were seated like an examination. The lecturer gave us paper and told us to continue writing a short narrative essay not more than 100 words from a sentence that she gave. If I can remember correctly, the sentence was 'I was walking through the forest when...'. So I did some writing and I've made a conclusion that the writing test is nothing to be worried about, so don't okay. After we finished, we were then called to the interview room (I was so nervous at that point I felt like running home).

While me and a few other students were walking in a straight line towards the interview rooms, the lecturer leading us told us to get in a group of five. I ended up with a new friend of mine that I made while waiting earlier on and three other boys that happened to be behind us.
All five of us walked into our interview room and stood in front of the two interviewers, greeting them before sitting down (pro tip, sit down only after they tell you to). They didn't look at our certificates so don't bother bringing much. Because there were five of us, the interviewer asked main questions and everyone took a turn answering (another tip, raise your hand and answer first, to show dominance and bravery lmao). I guess by now you really want to know what they asked so that you can copy my answers and ace the interview hahaha. I'll try to write it exactly how it went.

me : Good morning, my name is Nur Shafiyyah binti Ahmad Raiedzall and I'm turning 18 in a couple of days (lmao mentioning my upcoming birthday like I would get extra points). I just graduated from SMK Ayer Keroh. I have 4 annoying younger siblings and whenever I have free time I like to sing and write poetry.
𝙞𝙫 : 𝙘𝙖𝙣 𝙄 𝙖𝙨𝙠, 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙞𝙥𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙞𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙮 𝙥𝙤𝙚𝙩𝙧𝙮 𝙘𝙡𝙖𝙨𝙨𝙚𝙨?
me : No, I haven't. I have been writing poetry since I was six and it's just been something I find myself doing a lot especially when I'm sad. My mom encourages me to write more, so that's why I do.
𝙞𝙫 : 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙥𝙪𝙗𝙡𝙞𝙨𝙝𝙚𝙙 𝙖 𝙥𝙤𝙚𝙩𝙧𝙮 𝙗𝙤𝙤𝙠?
me : No, but I tend to in the near future. Not right now though but one day hopefully. *smiles*
𝙞𝙫 : *𝙨𝙢𝙞𝙡𝙚𝙨* 𝙞 𝙨𝙚𝙚.
: 𝙖𝙡𝙧𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙣𝙚𝙭𝙩 𝙦𝙪𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣, 𝙬𝙝𝙤 𝙞𝙨 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙗𝙞𝙜𝙜𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙞𝙣𝙨𝙥𝙞𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣?
me : Definitely my mom. She's supported me since day 1 and has given me reasons to do many things I'm passionate for. She works so hard as a lecturer, a mother, a sister and just being my mom. I strive to be as strong yet as kindhearted as she is because she's an amazing human being and I love her more than anything.
𝙞𝙫 : 𝙡𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙡𝙮, 𝙘𝙖𝙣 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙩𝙚𝙡𝙡 𝙢𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙮 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙨 𝙮𝙤𝙪'𝙫𝙚 𝙛𝙖𝙘𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙡𝙞𝙛𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙛𝙖𝙘𝙚𝙙 𝙞𝙩?
me : I guess the most recent one is having to study in a science stream even though I hated it a lot hahaha. It's hard to study something you're not into so for me getting good enough grades for my science subjects was a great success. I studied hard knowing my chances to further my studies relied on it, so that's how I overcame that challenge specifically.
𝙞𝙫 : 𝙡𝙖𝙨𝙩 𝙦𝙪𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣, 𝙬𝙝𝙮 𝙙𝙤 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙬𝙖𝙣𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙗𝙚 𝙖𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙆𝙋𝙈?
me : I would be honored to be given the opportunity because for me english has always been what I planned on taking. I see many career opportunities in line for me if I am able to study here. I also read that if i get a good cgpa then I might be given the chance to study abroad, which I am looking forward to.
So basically those were all the questions they asked. Surprisingly it didn't take too long because I was ready to go home at around 1:30 p.m. Anyways, if you're about to go for an interview at KPM, I wish you all the best and just remember to smile! I'll update how I did later on but that is it for now.Bye!
